Indian Fertiliser Industry Generated Over $11.51 Billion in Annual Revenue in 2024
The Fertiliser Association of India (FAI) has announced the appointment of Mr. Sailesh C Mehta, Managing Director of Deepak Fertilisers and Petrochemicals Corporation Ltd (DFPCL), as its new Chairman. Mr. Mehta succeeds Mr. N Suresh Krishnan, Managing Director of Paradeep Phosphates Ltd.
With over four decades of rich experience in the fertiliser and petrochemical sectors, Mr. Mehta has played a key role in shaping industry practices and policies. He previously served as Chairman of FAI’s Western Region for more than five years and is also the Chairman and Managing Director of Mahadhan AgriTech Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of DFPCL.
Commenting on his appointment, Mehta said, “I am truly privileged to serve as a bridge between government, industry, and farmers—acting as a catalyst to elevate the Indian farmer and farm productivity on the world map. India’s journey from food scarcity to becoming a global agri-exporter has been remarkable. The fertiliser industry continues to play a vital role in this transformation, now with an increased focus on balanced and nutrient-efficient fertilisers that support sustainable agricultural growth.”
Under Mr. Mehta’s leadership, the FAI is expected to continue championing innovation, sustainability, and farmer-centric solutions to enhance agricultural productivity and food security in India.
